Grandchildren … not about bridge at all

I couldn’t resist posting this picture. It is of my only granddaughter Jessica. She is Colin’s little girl and I think she is the cutest.
Its not that my four grandsons aren’t wonderful. I love them all. Just a week or two until Ray and I go to Vancouver with Colin and his family. So for a wonderful week we will all be together. I am sure I will have a picture or two to post.
While I am not talking about bridge I have a few things to say about life in general:
– it truly bothers me the way that Israel is demonized and the prospect of more anti-Semitism is frightening
– I can’t believe that all the fighting that is going on in the middle east is really worth it
– Don’t be afraid of universal health care, Americans, our system in Canada isn’t perfect and I am sure you can improve on it but I don’t think there are almost any Canadians who would want to go back to private insurance etc.
– I am very grateful that I live on the top half of North American. What better place can there be then to have only one neighbor, the U.S. probably the best neighbor we could have had. Now if only it was a little warmer in the winter.
Okay I promise never to talk about non-bridge again, for a long time.

Thanks for sharing the picture of Jessica. She is indeed precious and it sounds like you have much to be thankful for up North (forgetting the cold climate). C’mon down to Vegas where in the dead of winter, we are walking around with thin jackets — if any covering at all.
You know — bridge bloggers are human beings and have other interests outside of bridge. It is pathetic if they don’t, and we all know very well some of our compatriots eat, sleep and think bridge 24/7. When I was a young college grad, I was bitten by the bug and everyone used to scream “Get a life!” I eventually did — but if it hadn’t been for bridge, I never would have had Norman and Bobby in my life. I suppose there are worse addictions than bridge.
I think “asides” like yours are a welcome relief from the constant hammer of the clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades. Ross Taylor’s reports on his poker escapades are very entertainingly presented (even if I don’t play myself) and I can’t imagine anyone being upset that the bloggers departed from the site expectation which is, in essence, a bridge venue.
I believe that is why bridgeblogging.com is such a terrific site. It is easy to find, easy to read and easy to post a comment. No rigorous membership sign up regulations or stipulations to read before you can make a comment or add a personal touch. Ray and you (with your conscientious staff) have made life comfortable for your audiences and it was so nice seeing Jessica and helping to know more about you and what makes you tick (aside from your getting to be so proficient at breaking up squeezes). Keep enjoying the good life. That is what it is all about!
And remember — blogging about non-bridge is good for the soul!

I love Canada, my husband was from Nova Scotia, and we spent a lot of time there. My daughter is working on citizenship, health care reasons!, and my stepson lives in Halifax. Canadians are really neat
Thanks for your comments. I think Canada is a pretty terrific country but then I love America too. And it is nice to know that I can down to some warm spots like Las Vegas, Phoenix or Miami when it is really cold up here.
